Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Faces Backlash After Concert Stunt

Green Day frontman, Billie Joe Armstrong, paraded a less-than-tasteful stunt at Monday’s Green Day tour stop in Washington, D.C.

During the concert, he held up a rubber head of President Trump with the word “idiot” scrawled on its forehead.

Green Day had a concert here in DC last night.

They decided it’d be a good idea to hold up a severed Trump head.

Armstrong’s antics come less than a month since the assassination attempt on President Trump. But there’s more.

This act has gone viral for all the wrong reasons, even drawing parallels to Kathy Griffin’s 2017 photo scandal. Despite the controversy, Armstrong isn’t expected to apologize.

How can we forget Griffin’s grotesque photo that went viral? In it, she appeared to be holding a severed head in the likeness of President Trump.

But let’s go back to Green Day’s Monday concert.

The singer also allegedly changed the lyrics in American Idiot to: ‘I’m not a part of a MAGA agenda’ – a move he also did during ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve – moments before pulling out the mask.

Unlike Griffin, who apologized for the poor joke, Armstrong has not made a public statement about his brazen act at his concert.

He has publicly shown his disdain for the former president in the past, including when he claimed he was going to renounce his citizenship after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

Of course, Armstrong’s disdain for President Trump is nothing new. But it’s the appearance of violence that’s unsettling.
